- PAMPHLET DESIGN
The Corniche Project was one of the earlier initiatives by Ashkal Alwan: The Lebanese Association for Plastic Arts. Art works were exhibited all along Beirut’s famous seaside promenade – known colloquially in its French form “corniche” – featuring installations, sculptures and performances. When delegated with the task of designing the main and only printable for the project in the form of a handout, the idea for a foldout map seemed terrifically appropriate, not only for the obvious practicality of the device, but also for inciting a strong sense of place. After all, the project generated intense public debate on the meaning of public space in Lebanon.
